Turn the trends on their heads by combining masculine and feminine. Inspiration came to me while looking at some Ashley Olsen photos. The child star turned mega fashion designer was wearing menswear inspired looks in the shots and it got me to thinking. Can this be done with current feminine trends?
There’s nothing new about menswear inspired women’s wear but I wanted to see if a masculine touch would also work with current day girly glamour. I decided to test my styling hypothesis with the ultimate glamour label and girl glamour trend…a Pucci jumpsuit! Sticking to the basics was essential but I only deviated on one note and I think you will notice. Instead of choosing a heel, which is always seen with jumpsuits, I opted for a flat (well flatter than a heel.) I love how the non-stiletto literally grounds the look and metaphorically infuses a touch of masculine to the overpowering female prowess of a sexy mono chromatic jumpsuit. Choosing the type of shoe I did made the look perfect for a night out/dinner, acceptable for the workplace, and edgy enough for editorial. When was the last time you’ve seen a very low heel or flat with a jumpsuit? And light fabrics and loose rompers do not count! Haha.
Happy Styling Y’all!
