It’s bad enough that I refuse to assemble my own furniture. But I’m not doing myself any favors by adding flowers, fashion magazines, and vogue collector items to my new coffee table. At the end of the day I’m left wondering, “Is my style too gay?”

My decorating tastes are vastly different from my family and friends. I have a weakness for beauty and an affinity for chicness. Most people would regard these things as positives, but do I have too much of a good thing?

Every decorater (amateurs included) doubts the vision they have for their personal space. Add this. Subtract that. Move it this way. It’s a never ending game of chess. Is the endgame just Gay? Why can’t I opt for the traditional dark hues and masculine pieces that litter most bachelor pads. The struggle is real apparently and has no end in sight.

Yes, my furnishings and decorating choices might be regarded as flamboyant and anti-masculine. But I’m ok with that. A home should be a reflection of the inhabitant and how they wish the world to be. Are the furnishings too gay? Maybe. Is that a problem? Not at all.

Never doubt a vision and never doubt yourself. I’ve come too far to turn back now…stay tuned.

Who Would Have Thought?

What do you do when there’s no professional photographer or camera? You prop your phone up on the desk, set a timer, and strike a pose. Today, I was having a bit of melancholy mid-week moment. It only took a silly expression, bizarre pose, and some attitude to turn the day around. Keep the positive energy flowing in 2016.

The world of food blogging can be quite pretentious at times. As a blogger, you always feel the need to eat at the best restaurants, take the perfect mouth-watering shots, and seem like your food choices are always refined. Today is not one of those days. I’m sitting alone in a mall food court. Terrible holiday music is playing. And my meal is probably a bazillion calories. This entire situation would seem unworthy of any respectable blog. But yet here I am typing this post.

It’s quite refreshing to ditch the “fabulous”  blogging veil and share a real meal. None of my other food posts are fake but I don’t eat at cute downtown restaurants all the time. Sometimes I like to low brow it and get Chinese takeout from a nearby food court. The service is quick, the servers are friendly, and the food is always delicious. What more could a food lover want?

The next food post will definitely be classier -but for now- I’m reveling in this honest display of eating. Food always has a way of reflecting my true self. Sometimes I’m classy but sometimes I’m trashy…and I love it!

Happy Eating Y’all.

I long for the day when we will all see each other as brother and sister. A place of peace and harmony where all are safe. Praying for change and faithful for better.
